The Book Industry Treatise on Responsible Paper Use was
developed by publishers, printers, mills and other stakeholders
over a 6-month period, and sets meaningful goals for the
industry as a whole. The treatise has been signed by more than
180 publishers, merchants and mills.
Toolkits provide an overview of impacts and solutions,
sample environmental policies, and case studies. If you are
thinking about developing an environmental policy, the toolkits
are a great place to start.
Supplier Listings can help publishers find recycled
papers with strong environmental attributes, as well as printers
and brokers that can supply recycled and FSC certified papers.
The paper listings also provide important technical information
about the papers such as paper weight, PPI, shade, and opacity.
Sample Policies: The Sample Policies are word documents
that can be downloaded and used as templates to create your own
policy that is consistent with the Book Industry Treatise on
